ZDNet's Dennis Howlett talks about the difficulties of changing the culture of an organisation, and how this affects the success of community-building activities. As he points out, organisations often struggle to justify investing sufficient resources to this type of initiative, and then wonder why they fail. Successful collaboration software adoption requires a collaborative culture, and for many organisations this means a massive shift which can take many years in practical terms. While collaboration offers many advantages, business leaders need to be prepared to make the right level of investment to make it work – there is no quick fix.
