New MWD advisory service launches with global survey of IT architects on Cloud Computing
I’m delighted to announce that following months of hard work, this past Monday we launched a new advisory service. We’ve built on our existing experience of delivering BPM and Collaboration advisory services to our clients in order to offer a new service specifically focused on the Software Delivery competency area. The service is being led by our resident software delivery guru Bola Rotibi, ably assisted by Ian Murphy.
The initial research delivered in the service lays out a good taste of what’s to come. Key themes we’re currently exploring include:
- Agile software delivery
- Development implications of Cloud Computing
- Developing User-Centric Software Services
- Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
As with all our services, and in line with our published research approach and principles, there’s a really good balance of analysis and advice provided – we go beyond analysis of technology trends and vendor capabilities to look in detail at best practices and market maturity.
The piece we’re most excited about right now is a report highlighting the findings of a global survey on Cloud Computing we carried out in September in conjunction with our partner IASA. The report, Success with Cloud Computing: a survey of IT architects 2H09, looks at the perceptions and early experiences that IT architects have of working with Cloud Computing resources and services. It makes for pretty interesting reading. To provide a taster:
- 54% of respondents highlighted that their organisations are already investing in Cloud Computing, or are planning to planning to invest at some point in the coming year.
- 61% of those with current investments are investing to support IT development and testing work.
- Despite market immaturity, 22% of those with current investments already report receiving ROI.
- Proven ability to scale and support for standards are top supplier selection concerns.
You can read more about this specific report in this news release. You can also get overviews of all the launch reports by browsing our Software Delivery research library.
Bola and Ian are already working hard to bring our clients more great Software Delivery research and advice. As with all our advisory services, this new service has its own focused analyst blog which provides industry commentary as well as highlighting new research: if you want to keep up-to-date, you can subscribe to our Software Delivery blog here.
If you’d like to find out more about our new Software Delivery advisory service, we’ve provided two snappy brochures: one for enterprise IT organisations and one for vendors.
The MWD team has done a great job in putting this together – we’re looking forward to taking our business up another notch!
