At its 2009 NOW Online user conference TIBCO introduced TIBCO Silver, a new application platform for cloud infrastructure. This is an interesting move because TIBCO is the first "enterprise middleware" vendor to deliver technology into a Cloud computing environment that really behaves as you would expect a Cloud-based application platform to behave, at the same time as offering the runtime platform facilities that enterprise software developers have come to expect (transaction management, remote data integration, security, and so on). Among other things, the platform can scale "elastically" in a way that's transparent to developers and users; and performance monitoring and SLA management are built into the technology - again, transparently to developers and users.
